Anna/Elsa Pattern

This pattern is my tweaking of the previous Cinderella Doll pattern, therefore much of the credit goes to that creator. But I did put in a good deal of time and trial and error to create this unique doll, especially on the Anna side.

Materials:

Yarn in Light Blue, Dark Blue, Skin, Black, Yellow, Dark Pink, White, Brown

Embroidery Thread Brown, Red, Green, Pink

Eyes

Crochet hook D: 3.25mm

Needle for wool sewing.

Stitch marker

The doll is crocheted from the head of Anna through her body, switches to Elsa’s Body and finished with her head. The skirt is crocheted onto their bodies. I used continuous circles when crocheting them.

Start with Anna side:

1) With skin color yarn: Magic Ring with 6 st. (6)

2) 2sc in each sc around (12)

3) *2sc in first sc, 1sc in next sc* repeat from * to* (18)

4) *2sc in first sc, 1sc in next 2 sc* repeat from * to* (24)

5) *2sc in first sc, 1sc in next 3 sc* repeat from * to* (30)

6) *2sc in first sc, 1sc in next 4 sc* repeat from * to* (36)

7 to 10) 1sc in each sc around (36)

-         Attach eyes and start to stuff the head

-         Embroider eyebrows and mouth (if you want to) (I like to wait till after my whole doll is crocheted before doing my embroidery, but it is up to you)
I have found it easier to wait until the Anna half is done before attaching the eyes so that I can make sure they line up with the design of her shirt.

Now we will be jumping between light blue (LB), skin color (S), black (BK) and yellow (Y) to create the shirt portion of Anna’s dress.

Skirt: (make 2, one sky Light Blue and another Dark Blue with Black point and Yellow Outline)

Anna

1) Pick up 24 sts in the row 20 of the body, catching the front loops that were left free. (Y) 1sc in next 12 sc, (BK) 1sc in next 6 sc, (Y) 1sc in next 5 sc (24).

You can pick and part to start, but if you catch them starting at the very beginning of row 20, they’ll line up. If not you’ll have to adjust.

With Light Blue Yarn pick up the 24 sc in the same way, but in the row 21, in the black portion. Continue in the same way as the previous skirt after row 4.

When you have ready both skirts, you'll have to join both with light blue yarn, sc through both skirts, to hold them together

Hair- I have to admit that while I crochet a lot I don’t have much experience with doll hair Therefore, while I found a way to make their hair, I am not confident that I did it the right way. Therefore take my hair instructions as a suggestion, but you might want to do your own ‘hair research’ to be sure of what works.

Anna

With Brown Yarn

Cut lots of strands twice the length of the doll

Lay flat across her head

Sew/Secure each strand down the middle of her head

Sew/Secure each strand again halfway down the side of Anna’s head

Braid two side braids

Tie together with a strand of her hair

Trim the extra lengths of ‘hair’

Elsa

With White Yarn

Cut lots of strands twice the length of the doll

Fold in half and line up along front of head

Secure/Sew each ‘loop’ along the front of her head

Sew/Secure them again halfway down the back of her head

Braid one long braid

Tie together with a strand of her hair

Trim the extra lengths of ‘hair’

Anna’s Cape

I hope this pattern is understandable. I created Anna's cape completely on my own in the best way I knew how, but there may be better ways to accomplish the same result.

In this part of the pattern there are parts a, b, and c of the first few rows. a is the first half-circle(ish) part, b is the middle part that extends down to be the cape part and c is the second half circles. The half-circles come around the front of Anna's neck to while the rest of the cape will extend down her back.

I am planning on creating a cape for Elsa as well, but right now I’m not sure how I want to proceed. But maybe that will come later.

Anna/Elsa Topsy Turvy Doll

I created my own doll by adjusting and adding to the pattern I used previously to crochet Cinderella. This is Anna and her sister Elsa from the movie Frozen.

I love both sides of my doll, but I have a special fondness for the Anna side. I was able to capture more of her dress detail than I was for Elsa. I love the blue dress Anna wears much more than her green one so that is the one I created. 

 

I haven't completely finished the doll. I want to make Elsa a cape, but while I work on that part of the pattern I thought I should post the main part of the doll.

Later I plan on posting the pattern, hopefully soon. Being the first real pattern I am 'writing'/adjusting I am in the process of deciphering my jotted notes. Hopefully when I am finished it will be usable to others.

I crochet so my knowledge of knitting is limited, but in my perusal of the internet to glean ideas from others who have recreated Anna/Elsa I did run across a knit pattern for them.

Knit Elsa or Knit Anna

I have no idea if those patterns are good or not, but if you knit and want to try it I wanted to let you know the option is out there. You can also tweak them to create the perfect doll for your tastes.

And maybe later I'll create my own coronation princesses, but for now my creation is perfect for me. 

Topsy Turvy Doll

While there are a few newly crocheted projects that I have not shared, I recently found a pattern that is really neat so I'll share it first.

This is a Cinderella flip doll. One side is Cinderella when she had to work for her stepmother and the other is the princess Cinderella. It's all one doll. You simply flip up the dress to reveal the other doll. I had a fabric Goldilocks and the three bears flip doll when I was younger and I've always thought it was a really cool idea.

So far this is the only pattern like it that I have seen and the best part is that it's free and available in multiple languages! Here's the link: Magic Cinderella Doll.

Here's how mine turned out. I'm very pleased with it. One more thing to add to my collection. I'll have to get creative in the way I display all my new crochet friends since I seem to be running out of shelf space in my room. 

She turned out great! There are so many possibilities available with this pattern and a little tweaking. I'm not that found of dolls, but I plan on deigning a pattern or two based on this pattern as a reference. Hopefully they'll turn out nice!

Doll Daisy Blanket

A while ago I made a pretty pink daisy blanket for my sister using the pattern posted on tillietulip's blog. It was the perfect princess blanket that was totally her.

She loves it so much that I decided to try making a doll blanket using the same pattern so she and her doll can have matching blankets.

The cool thing was I learned a new skill for tillie tulip's blog, it's called the join-as-you-go method. Instead of having to sew each square of a blanket together after crocheting them all I crochet all but the last row, in this case pink, of each square and then crochet them together. I love this idea and I feel like it saves the time to sew everything together.

Dogs!

After crocheting my little owls I searched the internet for other cute amigurumi patterns that I could create. I made a guinea pig and parakeet. But then I found a book that is totally me. Ami Ami Dogs is full of adorable little puppies to crochet. 

So I ordered the book and some craft eyes for my new creations. I also had to make a trip to the store to pick out the perfect puppy colors. Luckily I found a preview pattern from the book online so while I eagerly awaited my  new book I crocheted my first dog.

All it took was that one dog and I as hooked! It turned out so cute. Other than putting my back legs a little to far forward the dog turned out perfect for me. My book came and before long I had a posse of little crochet dogs! They took such a tiny hook that I had to get one with a grip so I wouldn't hurt my hand by crocheting to much.

Somebody turned out to be a little jelous of my creations. If I left them on the table Benson would take them. He even managed to grab them out of my backpack when I left the pouch they were in unzipped. So I decided to use and bigger pattern to make him a puppy of his own. 

So far I have made all but two of the dogs in the first book so now I have Ami Ami dogs 2 on hold from the library so I can make some more. I guess I'll never be to old for stuffed animals, especially stuffed puppies!
